Developer Laurel MacKinnon plans to open an outdoor ice skating rink in her downtown Nampa development, the Belle District. The MacKinnon Group plans to build a 9,100-square-foot skating rink, Nampa Ice Factory, and a themed restaurant and special event room on a vacant dirt lot at First Street and 13th Avenue, according to a press release. The block-sized development would be named Belle Park Square. The ice rink would be open for skating from mid-October through mid-March to offer broom ball, figure skating classes and youth ice hockey. It would then be converted to a courtyard for community gatherings such as outdoor movies and open-air markets through September. Construction is scheduled to begin in July, and the skating rink would open in October. |
