The Center for Digital Government recently named Idaho's flexible payment solution as one of the best government-to-citizens solutions in the nation in its 2008 Best of the Web Digital Government Achievement Awards.
PayPort is offered through Idaho’s official Web site and allows state and local government agencies to accept credit and debit card payments via the Web, telephone, fax, and over-the-counter transactions at government offices.
PayPort is a ready-to-use solution that accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa payments through Idaho.gov's secure payment processor, according to a release. The service works with any computer connected to the Internet, can be customized to meet each agency's unique needs, and is compatible with USB swipe card readers. Idaho.gov offers PayPort to government agencies without merchant fees or monthly minimums, and the state portal also provides technical and marketing support at no additional cost to state or local government entities.
The Digital Government Achievement Awards recognize agency and department services that enhance the ways constituents do business online.
