  • Idaho Statesman editor Bill Manny spoke out recently about the decline in coverage by U.S. newspapers of the Iraq War. The wire article talks about the recent story regarding reaching 4,000 U.S. deaths in Iraq. Many newspapers carried the story on their front pages.
  • Born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, grew up in the small town of Athol, Idaho, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Lou Woltering will step down as Lincoln National Forest supervisor (New Mexico) after 33 years.
  • And following the same branch, Cecilia Seesholtz, currently the deputy forest supervisor of the Deschutes National Forest in Oregon, will be the new supervisor of the Boise National Forest. Seesholtz, 44, will manage 2.6 million acres of National Forest land in southwest Idaho.
