The Human Resources Association of Treasure Valley plans its annual conference from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. April 10 at Nampa Civic Center, 311 3rd St. S., Nampa.

Corrie Steeves, a member of the conference organizing committee, said the association hopes to draw about 175 people to the event.

“One of the things the committee looked at in planning the event is that we see skilled labor and professional employee shortages looming in the near future,” she said. Escalating costs for benefits is another major issue, she said.
Committee Co-Chair Jaye B. Pierce of Boise software consulting company Impac Services said several speakers plan to address how to create a corporate culture that can help businesses attract and retain staff in a tight market.
Justin Allen of The RBL Group, Kayla Barrett of The HR Edge Inc., and University of Idaho Assistant Prof. Michael Kroth are scheduled to deliver keynote presentations. Kroth plans an 8 a.m. speech titled, “Sustainability is More Than Crushing Cans: Why HR is the Key to Healthy Organizations.” Allen’s 11:45 a.m. speech is titled, “Raising the Bar for HR.” Barrett, at 3:15 p.m., is scheduled to present, “Why Eagles Dare – The Critical Difference Between Managing & Leading.”
Other presenters scheduled include attorneys Patricia Olsson and Clay Gill of the Moffatt Thomas law firm in Boise, Tom Kelley of benefits administrator and HR firm Ameriben / IEC Group, Boise State University Management Prof. Gundars Kaupins, and human resources specialists Lydia Aguirre of the Idaho Housing & Finance Association, Kathy Brashear of Alliance Title & Escrow, Jay George of Matterhorn Ice Cream, Lynn McConnell of Price Associates, and Jana Straubhar of Tamarack Resort.
A trade show also is planned.
The full-day conference costs $150 for association members and $175 for non-members who register by March 25. Attending the luncheon only costs $25 for members and $30 for non-members who register on or before that date. Costs increase by $25 for the conference and by $5 for the luncheon after March 25.
