A Coeur d’Alene company, HighPicture Systems, is shooting for national expansion. The “elevated photography” firm specializes in real estate, commercial and event security imagery and is now making its move into Portland and Seattle markets. The firm has sparked inquiries from people across the country wanting to become a part of the burgeoning franchise.

Idaho General Mines has appointed a new CFO, David A. Chaput, who brings to the job 26 years of financial and operational experience in the metals and mining industry. Idaho General focuses on exploration and development of molybdenum dominant projects.

A new report gives Idaho and Washington bad grades for their legal representation of abused and neglected children.

    They do (on their website) use the word "Franchise" to describe themselves (in quotes, as if that provides some qualification)...and they use the term "business opportunity" as well. "Business" is also used in their package option titles. In the interveiw, the term "franchise" is used unambiguously by a business officer.

    Perhaps one of our Legal Eagle readers should give them a call and offer to help them navigate the tricky waters of franchising/business opportunities. I haven't contacted any states about offering circulars on public record, and am not very familiar with the SBFA...

    To be fair, I am someone they may try to "compete" with...I own 3 such units, and am aware of at least 3 others in the Treasure Valley. I looked into franchising a few years back and was shocked at the number and depth of the regulatory hoops. I was also amazed by the vigor and severity of various federal and state solutions to rogue/noncompliant franchise offerings.

    Perhaps we can let them know about such things and prevent any trouble from coming their way...
