Former governor Phil Batt took a swipe today at Idaho Speaker of the House Lawerence Denney. In a 'reader view' commentary printed in the Idaho Statesman, Batt says the alleged loyalty tests in the Idaho Legislature, written about here and all around the blogosphere, are 'outrageous.' It is a strong rebuke from one Republican Party leader to another. But there is an interesting twist here. Gov. Butch Otter's chief of staff is a Batt protoge. Although Batt's commentary today could be purely an outraged former politico, this appears to have the fingerprints of the governor's office all over it.
